Team Valor International’s Unbridled Belle made her Empire State finale a winning one Saturday by taking the 15th running of the Grade 3, $100,000 Turnback the Alarm at Aqueduct Racetrack.

The 6-year-old daughter of Broken Vow, who has now earned $1.88 million in her 24-race career, has maintained her form very well since her victory in the Grade 1 Beldame at Belmont Park in 2006.

“You always want to see them finish up their careers well,” said winning trainer Todd Pletcher, noting that the Grade 2, $150,000 Falls City on November 26 at Churchill Downs will be the final start of Unbridled Belle’s career. “She’s been so good to us for a number of years. It’s nice to see her doing as well as she is at the moment. Hopefully, we can get one more.”

Ridden by Ramon Dominguez, Unbridled Belle broke a step slowly, but quickly recovered to be fourth behind early fractions of 24.74 and 49.19 set by eventual runner-up Weathered.

Around the far turn, Dominguez swung three wide and split horses with Unbridled Belle, and she kicked on strongly to win under wraps. Her time for the 1?-mile race over the fast main track was 1:50.20.

“It wasn’t really the trip we thought we would get,” said Dominguez, who has been aboard Unbridled Belle for all four of her career graded stakes victories. “I just wanted to come away nice; if she was in front I wasn’t going to be surprised. She broke a little on the slow side, so I just tucked her behind horses. She was on the bridle the whole way. She gave me a good run and in the final eighth I just wrapped up on her.”

It was four lengths back to Weathered, who finished second just seven days after a 7th place finish in the $250,000 Empire Classic at Belmont Park. Way With Words finished another 1¾ lengths back in third.

Unbridled Belle returned $3.00 as the overwhelming 1-2 favorite.

Nicksappealinglady, Manitoba Miss, Sweet and Flawless, Dear Henry and Dattts Our Girl completed the order of finish.
