The BEAUGAY is named in honor of Maine Chance Farm's excellent filly. Owned by Mrs. Elizabeth Arden, this filly won her first six starts, including the Fashion, Polly Drummond, Arlington Lassie, Princess Pat, and Matron Stakes. She was voted the champion 2 year old of 1945 regardless of gender. Beaugay accumulated earnings of $105,910 that year. Her only defeat came in the Futurity when she ran into the rail and fell. Beaugay won the 1945 running of the Matron.
Run in two divisions in 1979. Run on the main track at Aqueduct prior to 1983. In 1998, adverse weather conditions forced the Beaugay to be run on the main track at one mile.
