The JIMMY WINKFIELD is named after the last black jockey to win the Kentucky Derby. Winkfield, a native of Chilesburg, Ky., won back-to-back runnings of the Kentucky Derby aboard His Eminence in 1901 and Alan-A-Dale in 1902. When he retired in 1930, Winkfield had won more than 2,600 races. He died in Maisons-Laffitte, France, on March 23, 1974. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004. Formerly known as the BEST TURN from 1985-2004.
