The MAN o' WAR honors the champion who re wrote the record books in 1919 and 1920. In 1921 he was retired to stud, where he also produced a great record, having siring 1937 Triple Crown winner War Admiral. Man o' War's name is inscribed in racing's Hall of Fame at the National Museum of Racing in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Run in two divisions in 1959. Run as the Man o' War Handicap in 1959 and 1961. The Man o' War was run at Aqueduct in 1959, 1961, from 1963 to 1967, and in 1987. Run at a mile and five eighths in 1961 and from 1963 to 1967; at a mile and a half in 1959, 1960, 1962, and from 1968 to 1977. In 1975, One On The Asile finished first, but was disqualified and placed second.
