Inaugurated in 1980, the MISS GRILLO is named for the horse that ran for the Mill River Stable and was trained by H. A. Luro. The Argentine-bred MISS GRILLO was a distance runner who won the two and one-half mile Pimlico Cup for two consecutive years. Run at Belmont Park from 1980 through 1994, in 1996, and from 1998 to 2000. Run at Aqueduct in 1995, 1997, 2001, and 2002. Run on the main track in 1986. Run in two divisions in 1988. In 1990, Seewillo finished first, but was disqualified and placed second. Run at a mile and an eighth prior to 1991, and then again beginning in 1997. Run on the dirt in 1996.
