The NASSAU COUNTY is named after the county on Long Island in which Belmont Park is located. The county was named in honor of William of Nassau, Prince of Orange. Nassau is one of two counties that make up the Long Island region of New York State; Suffolk is the other. Nassau County is situated between Queens County (to the west) and Suffolk County (to the east).
