TREMONT was acclaimed by 19th Century Turf historians as the best juvenile ever bred in the U.S. He compiled the best record ever for an unbeaten two-year-old - 13 victories in 13 starts. The average winning margin in Tremont's races was nearly six lengths, and he set a then earnings record for a juvenile of $39,135. His 13 victories came in a 10 week stretch, and they included wins in the Tyro and Junior Champion Stakes. Tremont broke down before his 3-year-old debut.
The TREMONT was run at Gravesend from 1887 to 1910; at Aqueduct from 1914 to 1955, 1960 to 1974, and in 1976; at Jamaica in 1956 and in 1958. Not run in 1911, 1912, 1913, 1933, 1934, and 1935. Run at about six furlongs from 1901 to 1910; five furlongs from 1936 to 1939; at six furlongs from 1887 to 1900, 1914 to 1932, and from 1974 to 1988. In 1970, there was a Dead Heat for Win.
