The VOSBURGH honors the late Walter S. Vosburgh, official handicapper for The Jockey Club and various racing associations, including the New York racetracks from 1894 to 1934. Vosburgh was also a turf historian and writer of note, until his death in 1938. Mr. Vosburgh assigned the weights for the first Experimental Free Handicap in 1933. |
