John Velazquez had a phenomenal year. He won the Belmont Stakes, was inducted in to the Hall of Fame, and is now an Eclipse finalist. He had a huge day on September 29 at Belmont Park. 3 of his 16 graded NY wins came that day, including a Vosburgh win aboard Male Sprinter finalist The Lumber Guy. The Lumber Guy was a NY-bred three-year-old defeating older horses that afternoon.

Two guys we see an awful lot of in New York, Ramon Dominguez and Todd Pletcher, are finalists in the Jockey and Trainer categories. The both won 19 graded stakes on the circuit this year. Together they took the G1 Cigar Mile with Stay Thirsty, among other races.
