The AFFECTIONATELY Handicap was named after Hirsch Jacobs' remarkable mare who was the 1965 Sprint Champion. She won 28 of 52 races (18 of them stakes), and carried a staggering 137 pounds to victory in the Vagrancy Handicap. Affectionately was nicknamed the “Queen of Aqueduct” during her racing days. The grand mare retired in 1966, and was the dam of the well remembered Preakness winner of 1970, Personality.

Run at one mile in 1976. Run in two divisions in 1977, 1983, and 1985.
