Apprentice jockey Pierre Tomas was discharged from Jamaica Hospital late Friday evening after fracturing his nose in a spill during the nightcap at Aqueduct Racetrack.
“He is sore and fractured his nose, but he’s doing fine,” said the rider’s agent, Jean Luc Samyn. “He’ll see the doctor on Tuesday and I don’t think he’ll be out too long – maybe the end of next week.”
Tomas, 20, was unseated in Friday’s ninth race when his mount, Miz Owell, ducked in suddenly and then broke through the inner rail on the turf course. The 3-year-old New York-bred filly was apprehended by NYRA outriders and walked off the course.
