Miss Universe Visits Belmont Park

Miss Universe, Gabriela Isler, spent Veterans’ Day with The New York Racing Association, Inc. at Belmont Park this past Tuesday. Isler was given an insider's tour of trainer Phil Serpe's barn by assistant Lisa Bartkowski,and watched in awe as she breezed Weekend Hideaway who carries the colors of Red and Black stable on Belmont Park's main track, covering five furlongs in :59 2/5.

First-ever jockey health insurance plan to be administered by NYRA

Facilitating new access to affordable health insurance coverage, the New York Racing Association today announced a formal agreement with the Jockeys' Guild which extends formal health care coverage to New York State Thoroughbred jockeys. Approved by the New York State Gaming Commission, the New York Racing Association will administer the new program which will debut in late November.
