Pick 6 carryover of $41K on Sunday at the Big A

by Ryan Martin

Sunday’s Closing Day card at the Aqueduct Racetrack winter meet will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $41,964 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Saturday’s 10-race card.

The $1 Pick 6 returned $299.50 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.

The sequence kicked off in Race 5 with the $75,000 Stud Muffin - an 11-furlong starter allowance for older horses - as Jaime Torres piloted Locally Owned [No. 5, $9.10] to a 1 1/4-length victory for trainer Tom Morley and owner Flying P Stable.

Dylan Davis piloted Sandin Syndicate Stable’s sophomore Asmodeus [No. 5, $3.70*] to a third-out graduation for trainer William Morey in Race 6 – a one-mile maiden special weight for sophomores.

Romantic Gamble [No. 7, $19.20], owned by trainer Steven Chircop in partnership with Eric Ross, earned a fifth career conquest in the $50,000 Dads Caps in Race 7 – a six-furlong starter allowance for older horses. Trevor McCarthy was aboard for the journey.

Luni Sima [No. 10, $11.40], owned by trainer Peter Walder in partnership with EKB Stables, captured the 6 1/2-furlong $65,000 Peeping Tom [Race 8] to earn his fourth lifetime win. The 4-year-old Keen Ice colt was ridden by Eric Cancel.

In Race 9, the one-turn mile $75,000 Sis City for older fillies and mares, Jason Huayas piloted Stacy Lalman’s Mosienko [No. 8, $11.20] to her ninth career victory for trainer Dennis Lalman.

With the carryover already confirmed, the sequence concluded in Race 10 with Three Player’s Stable’s No Burn [No. 10, $6.20*] taking a one-turn mile starter allowance event for older horses in the $60,000 More to Tell.

Co-owned by trainer Oscar Barrera, III, No Burn turned the temperature up on his rivals to secure a ninth lifetime victory. Dylan Davis rode the 5-year-old son of Declaration of War.

Sunday’s Pick 6 will kick off in Race 4 at 2:55 p.m. Eastern. First post for the nine-race card is 1:20 p.m. Eastern.
