The TOM FOOL HANDICAP is named for the Greentree Stable color-bearer who was champion 2-year-old of 1951, and handicap champion and Horse of the Year in 1953. He is one of four horses to ever win the “Handicap Triple” – the Metropolitan, Brooklyn, and Suburban handicaps – in one year. He was elected to racing’s Hall of Fame at Saratoga in 1960. The TOM FOOL was run at Aqueduct prior to 1977 and at Belmont 1978-2009. Returned to Aqueduct in 2011.
