The BUSANDA is named for Ogden Phipps` filly who not only beat the colts in the Suburban Handicap of 1951, but also bested the males twice in the Saratoga Cup. She posted ten victories from ages two to five. Against her own sex, her stakes victories included the Alabama, Top Flight, New Castle, and Diana. Perhaps Busanda`s greatest renown was as a broodmare. She was the dam of Buckpasser, two year old champion of 1965 and Horse of the Year in 1966. Among her other foals were Bupers and Bureaucracy.

The BUSANDA was run at the distance of seven furlongs from 1974 to 1976, inclusive; and at a mile and a sixteenth from 1977 to 1982, inclusive. In l980, Going East finished first but was disqualified and placed third.
