The Stewards' Corner

Welcome to the Stewards’ Corner, where you will find explanations of the decisions that our stewards make on race days. Directly following any decision they make having to do with the official order of finish, including inquiries and objections, the stewards – one appointed by The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), one appointed by the New York State Gaming Commission, and one appointed by The Jockey Club (TJC) – provide an explanation of what happened and the reason for their decision. Race Decisions - January 6, 2012

RACE 4: Steward’s Inquiry:
In the vicinity of the ½  mile pole, # 7 Miss Dragon Lady (J. Alvarado) clips a heel of # 4 Eva Lil (J. Espinoza) and J. Alvarado is unseated.

# 7 was having control problems shortly after the start and continuing down the backstretch leading into the incident.

The race was declared Official as is

RACE 7: Steward’s inquiry into the start of the race. The # 1A Song of Broadway ( C Velasquez ) Caused his own problem and refused when the gate opened for the start, he was released by the starter and the gate opened properly. After reviewing the video and in the judgment of the Stewards the race is official as is.
