The Stewards' Corner

Welcome to the Stewards’ Corner, where you will find explanations of the decisions that our stewards make on race days. Directly following any decision they make having to do with the official order of finish, including inquiries and objections, the stewards – one appointed by The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), one appointed by the New York State Gaming Commission, and one appointed by The Jockey Club (TJC) – provide an explanation of what happened and the reason for their decision. Race Decisions - November 30, 2013

Race 1: Steward’s Inquiry into the start:  At the break, # 8 Make Me a Prophet stumbled badly and unseated the jockey, Irad Ortiz, Jr.   No action was warranted and the race was declared official as is.

Race 8: Stewards inquiry at around the ¼ pole Jose Lezcano on # 3 Clearly Now drifts out on his own and clips heels with the # 11 Private Zone. After reviewing the video the race is official as is.
