The Stewards' Corner
Welcome to the Stewards’ Corner, where you will find explanations of the decisions that our stewards make on race days. Directly following any decision they make having to do with the official order of finish, including inquiries and objections, the stewards – one appointed by The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), one appointed by the New York State Gaming Commission, and one appointed by The Jockey Club (TJC) – provide an explanation of what happened and the reason for their decision. RACE 10: Steward’s inquiry and jockeys objection. Jockey Channing Hill rider of Elnaawi # 8 claims against the # 10 West Hills Giant ( J Espinoza) for alleged interference, going into the first turn where several horses are tightening up # 11 and # 10 are dropping in when # 8 is gaining momentum when a opening closes causing him to check. After reviewing the video the Stewards feel the incident did not alter the finish and the race is official as is.
