NYRA’s 2009 Belmont Stakes Logo Honors New York Heritage

By NYRA Press Office | January 30, 2009

The New York Racing Association has unveiled its logo for the 141st running of the $1 million Belmont Stakes, the 1 ˝-mile “Test of the Champion” and the longest and final leg of Thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown for three-year-olds.

The 2009 Belmont Stakes logo features the New York skyline shaded by a stylized rendition of Belmont Park’s trademark white pine, the 186-year-old tree in the center of the Belmont Paddock. The logo pays homage to the race’s history as a quintessential New York sporting event and Belmont Park’s reputation as an oasis just outside the City.

The 2009 Belmont Stakes logo was designed by Eric Johnston of Art Design Studios [www.artdesignstudios.net].

The 141st running of the Grade 1 Belmont Stakes will be held Saturday, June 6, with first-race post TBA. ABC-TV and ESPN will provide live coverage of the day’s events.
