Forbes’ Firsters is a series that takes a glance at the pedigrees and sales histories of select 2-year-olds who are making their debuts in maiden special weight races at Aqueduct Racetrack, Belmont Park, or Saratoga Race Course. GIBSON’S BULLET (chestnut colt, Montbrook—Catch the Ghost, by Silver Ghost) is out of a winning half-sister to 2004 Horse of the Year and Breeders’ Cup Classic victor Ghostzapper, Grade 1 Hopeful hero City Zip, and Grade 3 Durham Cup winner City Wolf. Catch the Ghost has produced four winners (one on the turf) from seven starters, including Phantom Income, who took the restricted N.A.T.C. Futurity (Fillies) as a 2-year-old.

DOUBLE WHAMMY (dark bay or brown colt, Arch—Falling Springs, by Mr. Prospector) is out of an unraced half-sister to Astoria winner Aces. Falling Springs has produced three winners from as many starters, but none have won on the turf. Her top foal is Easy Gallop, who placed in a sprint stakes at the Meadowlands.
