The JAIPUR is named for the George D. Widener Champion 3-Year-Old of 1962. The dark bay colt won perhaps the most sensational Travers ever when he nosed out Ridan in a duel that was nose to nose for the full 1 1/4 miles. In 1962, Jaipur’s campaign was not confined to beating 3-year-olds. He ran an extremely creditable second to Kelso in the 1962 Woodward.

Run at seven furlongs 1986-2005 and 2011-present. Run at six furlongs 1984-85 and 2006-10. Run in two divisions in 1986, 1994, and 1995. Run on the main track prior to 1987 and again in 1992.
