RACE 6, ALL-TWO-YEAR-OLDS, 1 1/16 MILES, TURF, 3:41 P.M. MCCAROLL (2yo chestnut colt) is a half-brother to Wild Desert, who won the 2005 Queen’s Plate, finished second in the 2006 Grade 1 Clark Handicap, and earned just over $1 million. Out of the overnight stakes winner and Grade 3-placed mare Desert Radiance, McCarroll sold for $95,000 at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, making him the second most expensive of 16 weanlings from the first crop of Aragorn, a two-time Grade 1 winner on the turf. DIXON LANE (2yo bay colt), by Pulpit, is out of Kim’s Blues, who has produced stakes winners Lotta Rhythm, Lotta Kim, and High Blues. Lotta Kim is best known as the dam of Rachel Alexandra, who was named the 2009 Horse of the Year after earning Grade 1 victories in the Kentucky Oaks, Preakness, Mother Goose, Haskell Invitational, and Woodward. RACE 7, TWO-YEAR-OLD FILLIES, 7 FURLONGS, DIRT, 4:14 P.M. CASH FOR CLUNKERS (2yo bay filly), pinhooked for $25,000 as a yearling, was resold for $200,000 at the OBS March Selected Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training after breezing a furlong in 10 3/5 seconds (video). By Tiznow, Cash For Clunkers is out of Miss Dixie Dreamer, a daughter of Western Dreamer, a stakes winner who as a 2-year-old was third in the Grade 1 Spinaway. Owner: Klaravich Stables & William H. JULENE (2yo gray or roan filly), a homebred by Maria’s Mon, is out of the unraced mare Juliet’s Way, whose three other horses of racing age have all earned black type. Two are stakes winners, including Juliet’s Spirit, who bagged three listed events and earned $311,470. Owner: Padua Stables
CENTRING (2yo bay filly) is out Composure, who as a juvenile won the Grade 2 Oak Leaf and was narrowly denied by Storm Flag Flying when second in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. The following year Composure picked up Grade 1 victories in the Las Virgenes and Santa Anita Oaks. Composure has produced four horses of racing age, the best of which is Tranquil Manner, who was third in Saturday’s Grade 1 Woodward and has earned $224,610 to date.
