Name: Bruce Levine

Birthdate: February 7, 1955

Birthplace: New York, N.Y.

Levine accomplished a unique triple play when Coyote Lakes won the Gallant Fox Handicap (GIII) at Aqueduct three consecutive years from 2000-02. This demonstrates Levine’s ability to train horses for stamina as the Gallant Fox is run at 1-5/8 miles, one of the longest dirt stakes races in the country. He also trained Aavelord to a Gallant Fox victory in 1998.

Career Highlights:

  • 2004: Finished third in the NYRA trainer standings with 80 victories.
  • 2002: Coyote Lakes won the Gallant Fox Handicap (GIII) at Aqueduct for the third consecutive year.
  • 1985: Registered his first major graded victories when Koluctoo’s Jill won the Ashland (GI) at Keeneland and the Black Eyed Susan (GI) at Pimlico.
  • 1975: Began working for legendary New York trainer John Campo.
  • 1979: Got his first winner when I’m It won at Aqueduct.
