Two hundred horseplayers are expected to vie for $200,000 in prize money when they compete in the fourth annual Battle of Saratoga Handicapping Challenge presented by NYRA Rewards on August 7-8 at Saratoga Race Course.

This year, the tournament will offer four berths into the 2014 Daily Racing Form/NTRA Las Vegas National Handicapping Tournament. The top three finishers will receive berths, with NYRA Rewards offering the fourth seat to the highest finishing NYRA Rewards member in the 2013 Battle of Saratoga that has yet to qualify for the DRF/NTRA tournament.

The four contestants who earn berths into the DRF/NTRA tournament will receive airfare reimbursement and hotel accommodations.

The 2013 Battle of Saratoga will have a new location as it will now be conducted on the upper level of the Carousel restaurant instead of the At the Rail pavilion.

First place in the two-day tournament is worth $100,000 and cash prizes will be offered to the top 20 finishers. Additionally, the leader after day one and the contestant with the highest day-two bankroll will receive $1,500.

As an added bonus, NYRA will host a cocktail reception for contestants and their paid guests at The Post, the open-air bar adjacent to the paddock, on the first night of the tournament.

Entry fee for the inaugural Saratoga Handicapping Tournament is $1,000 with all entry fees returned as prize money.
