Forbes’ Firsters is a series that takes a glance at the pedigrees and sales histories of select 2-year-olds who are making their debuts in maiden special weight races at Aqueduct Racetrack, Belmont Park, or Saratoga Race Course. BOLD VISIONARY (gray/roan filly, Rockport Harbor—Freshwater Pearl, by Alzao) is out of a mare who won a stakes on turf in Ireland in her debut, which came in June of her 2-year-old season. Freshwater Pearl is a full-sister to Alexis, a Grade 3 winner on the turf in the United States who also won stakes in France and Canada, and Miss Helga, who took a listed stakes in Ireland. As a broodmare, Freshwater Pearl has produced five winners from eight starters, including Pure Incentive, who placed in three stakes on the grass at Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course.

BIG AIR (dark bay/brown colt, More Than Ready—Taj Aire, by Taj Alriyadh) is a half-sister to five black-type earners, topped by three-time graded stakes winning sprinter Elusive Diva, who won three races apiece on the dirt and turf. Elusive Diva took the Grade 3 Railbird on the dirt and the Grade 3 Las Cienegas Handicap and Grade 3 Senator Ken Maddy Handicap going down the hill at Santa Anita. Big Air is also a half-sister to stakes winners R. Baggio and Handyman Bill.
