Capital OTB TV to Show Saratoga Races Live
By Eric Wing
The Capital Off-Track Betting Television Network will show Saratoga Race Course’s races live for the first time in 2013 as the result of an agreement between The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) and the Capital District Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation (Capital OTB).
Previously, OTB-TV would show Saratoga’s races on tape delay after the race went official.
“This agreement is the result of a new era of cooperation between NYRA and Capital OTB,” said NYRA Vice President of Corporate Development David O’Rourke. “By letting OTB-TV show our races live, Capital OTB can better serve its customers in the Capital District. We hope this agreement will help drive business for both Capital OTB and for NYRA.”
“The Capital Region is blessed to have the world’s best thoroughbred racing being run right in our backyard and this decision means that no one has to miss a minute of the action,” said Capital OTB President & CEO John Signor. “While we encourage everyone to visit the Saratoga Race Course as often as possible, this effort recognizes the fact that some people just aren’t always able to make the trip. Bringing live Saratoga racing into the homes of television viewers throughout the Capital Region is good for the betting public, good for business, and, most importantly, good for the sport we all love. On behalf of racing fans in the Capital Region, we thank the leadership of NYRA for taking this step and look forward to a successful Saratoga meet.”
The Capital OTB television network can be viewed in the Capital Region on Time Warner Cable on Channel 12.
