The indefatigable Pack, 86, a singular presence and unmatched storyteller on the NYRA racing circuit since the 1970s, was co-host of the "Pack at the Track" radio show, as well as "Thoroughbred Action" and "Inside Racing" on cable television.
In 2007, his book "May The Horse Be With You: Pack at the Track," written with Pete Fornatale, was released to great acclaim.
During his interview with Serling, Pack shares hilarious racing stories and sharp insights about New York racing, accumulated across seven decades.
Pack, who began working for NYRA in 1974, begins the conversation by saying, "I was there on opening day, 150 years ago, and I didn't have a winner," and sets off from there, touching on everything from "Photo Bob" breaking Mother Goldsmith's buffet to Pack's color-coordinated jackets (light blue for Aqueduct, light green for Belmont, red at Saratoga) worn for each show.
