NYRA to celebrate Adirondacks Day at Saratoga Race Course

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will celebrate Adirondacks Day at Saratoga Race Course on Wednesday, August 15.

The day is presented by the Adirondack Regional Tourism Council in partnership with the Adirondack Coast Visitors Bureau, Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism and Warren County Department of Tourism.

The day will highlight the unique history, culture and tourism attractions of the Adirondack region, which includes Lake Placid, home to the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games. The event will take place at the Coca-Cola Saratoga Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Guests will have the opportunity to experience Adirondack life with a variety of activities, including basket weaving, wood carving, colonial shoemaking, and balsam bag assembly. Adirondack Wildlife Refuge and Rehabilitation Center will showcase live animals native to the Adirondacks.

The event will also include a craft beverage tasting with numerous regional breweries and wineries, including Adirondack Brewery; Elf's Farm Winery; Lake Placid Brewery; and Valcour Brewing Company.

Samples of fresh local farm food will be provided by Adirondack Harvest; Hidden Hollow Maple Farm; My Cup of Tea; and Nettle Meadow Farm.

A variety of Adirondack organizations will be represented at the Pavilion, including the Adirondack Experience; Adirondack Folk School; Fort Ticonderoga; Lake Placid Visitors Bureau; Museum on Blue Mountain Lake; Olympic Regional Development Authority; The Wild Center; and the William H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute.

Grandstand admission for Saratoga Race Course is $5 and Clubhouse admission is $8 for guests who purchase their tickets prior to the day of the event. Grandstand admission is $7 and Clubhouse admission is $10 when purchased at the gate.   

The 2018 season at Saratoga Race Course continues through Labor Day, Monday, September 3.
