Stewards Corner

Welcome to the Stewards’ Corner, where you will find explanations of the decisions that our stewards make on race days. Directly following any decision they make having to do with the official order of finish, including inquiries and objections, the stewards – one appointed by The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), one appointed by the New York State Gaming Commission, and one appointed by The Jockey Club (TJC) – provide an explanation of what happened and the reason for their decision. Race Decisions - December 1, 2013

RACE 1: Steward’s Inquiry and Jockey’s Objection:  From the rider of the sixth place finisher, # 5 Pop Pop’s Smyle (Mallory Strandberg) against the fourth place finisher, # 2 Frosty But Funky (Manuel Franco) for alleged interference in the vicinity of the 1/8 pole. The # 2 drifts out and after reviewing the video and in the judgment of the stewards this did not alter the final placing. The race is official as is.
