Welcome to the Stewards’ Corner, where you will find explanations of the decisions that our stewards make on race days. Directly following any decision they make having to do with the official order of finish, including inquiries and objections, the stewards – one appointed by The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), one appointed by the New York State Gaming Commission, and one appointed by The Jockey Club (TJC) – provide an explanation of what happened and the reason for their decision. Race Decisions - August 25, 2013
Race 1: Stewards inquiry at the start the # 9 Dynaverse ( L Saez) rears up as the start of the race is taken. After reviewing the video there was no cause for any action and the race is official as is.
Race 2: Steward’s Inquiry: After passing the ½ mile pole going into the turn, # 2 Potosi’ Silver (J. Velazquez) checks sharply on the rail with # 5 Gracer (J. Rocco, Jr.) racing close outside.
# 2 shifts outside to draw within a length of # 5 passing the 3/8 pole, and # 5 continues to draw away through the stretch to win by several lengths.
The race was declared official as is.
