NYRA Offers $500,000 Late Pick Four Saturdays at Saratoga

   


The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has announced that it will offer a $500,000 Guaranteed Late Pick 4 Saturdays at Saratoga Race Course during the 2009 meet. The meet begins on Wednesday, July 29, with the first Guaranteed Late Pick 4 offered on Saturday, August 1.

Although NYRA offers daily Pick 4’s on races 2-5 and the final four races of the day, the $500,000 guarantee applies only to the Late Pick 4 on Saturdays. The Late Pick 4 is a $1 minimum wager in which the bettor must correctly pick the winners of the last four races on the card, usually beginning with race 8 on Saratoga Saturdays. By guaranteeing the wager for $500,000, NYRA will supplement the difference if the total wagering pool for the Saturday Late Pick 4 is less than $500,000.

On Shadwell Travers Day, Saturday, August 29, NYRA will offer a $1 Million Guaranteed Pick 4 that will consist of the Grade 1, $1 million Shadwell Travers, the Grade 1, $300,000 NetJets King’s Bishop, the Grade 1, $300,000 Ballerina, and the Grade 2, $200,000 Ballston Spa.

During the 2009 Belmont Park Spring/Summer Meet, NYRA offered a $350,000 Guaranteed Late Pick 4 on Saturdays. Through July 22, there have been eleven Saturdays during the Belmont meet that offered the wager, with an average pool size of $424,179.

During the 2009 Aqueduct Spring Meet, NYRA offered a $250,000 Guaranteed Late Pick 4 on Saturdays. There were eleven Saturdays in total during the Aqueduct meet that offered the wager, with an average pool size of $331,340.
