Women’s Day Expo: The New York Racing Association invites female racing fans to the summer home of this season’s leading lady, Rachel Alexandra, for the fourth annual Women’s Day expo. Ladies will have the opportunity to peruse the latest in health and lifestyle-related products while enjoying live musical entertainment from the award-winning Saratoga Soundtrack Women’s Chorus which performs four-part barbershop harmonies. Women will also have the chance to learn more about thoroughbred ownership through syndicated partnerships, as well as career opportunities in the thoroughbred industry from female racing professionals, including jockeys, trainers and other experts at the Racing Vocations Table in the backyard. Exhibits will be available from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and again from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are free with paid track admission. The Women’s Day expo is presented by B95.5 and is co-sponsored by Ania Hair Studio and Regency Jewelers.
The Adirondack: The day’s feature race, appropriately, is the 93rd running of the Grade 2, $150,000 Adirondack for juvenile fillies at 6 ½ furlongs.
Bunbury’s Pub: Racing fans can watch and wager on the best of both British and Southern California racing in the backyard, featuring a full bar in a cozy, pub atmosphere. Every Wednesday through Sunday during the meet, Saratoga will offer simulcast wagering from racetracks in the United Kingdom and from Southern California. The action begins most mornings Wednesday through Saturday at approximately 9 a.m. with racing from a number of notable British tracks and continues most afternoons from the West Coast at 5 p.m. (6 p.m. on Fridays; So/Cal simulcasts only on Sundays). Standard general admission pricing of $3 applies. Bunbury’s Pub will now offer reserved seating on all race days on a first come, first served basis beginning at 12:30 p.m. To reserve a table at Bunbury’s, call 518-587-5070 or 518-584-0500 ext. 22. Talking Horses: New this summer, the popular show, presented by Daily Racing Form, is conducted in a live audience format from the Carousel Restaurant at Saratoga Race Course from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every racing day.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 21
Triple Crown Connection Drawing: Three people and their guests will each get the chance to meet one of the three champions from the 2009 Triple Crown by entering the “Triple Crown Connection” drawing on Friday, August 21 at Saratoga Race Course. With all three Classic winners stabled at Saratoga Race Course, patrons may enter to win a meet and greet with Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird, Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra or Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird, as well as breakfast for four on the Porch and a Clubhouse box for four on Wednesday, August 26. Each guest will receive a blank entry slip with paid admission to the track on Friday, August 21. Completed entries will be accepted beginning at 11 a.m. at the Paddock information booth, Bunbury’s Pub in the backyard and the first floor Grandstand information booth. All entries must be received by 3 p.m. in order to be included in the drawing; limit one entry per guest. Just after the day’s fifth race, at approximately 3:30 p.m., track announcer Tom Durkin will call five winning numbers and winners will have 45 minutes to report to the first floor Grandstand information booth to claim their prizes. At 4:30 p.m., each individual winner will be invited to the Winner’s Circle to choose a prize envelope. Three of the five prize envelopes will contain “Golden Tickets” redeemable for a “Classic Connection” with one of this year’s Triple Crown race winners. Winners must be present to collect and redeem a Triple Crown Connection prize package.
On Wednesday, August 26, each of the three winners and three guests will enjoy breakfast on the porch while watching the horses exercise in the morning. From there, each group of four will spend the day watching the races live from a private Clubhouse box before meeting their respective Triple Crown Classic winners. All winners will receive a photo of their meeting with the horse as a keepsake.
Family Fun Zone: New this year, every Friday of the meet will feature another exciting, cost-free option for kids to enjoy, the 99.5 The River Price Chopper Family Fun Zone. This week, the fun zone will feature a Bounce Around bouncy-bounce, the Games 2 U Mobile Video Unit with five video game units, and creative activities from the Children’s Museum of Saratoga. The Ronald McDonald House will be on site collecting donations, though not required.

14th Annual Travers Festival: Presented by the New York Lottery, the Travers Festival features nearly 40 interactive events throughout Saratoga Springs and the greater Capital District to benefit local charities, in celebration of the 140th running of the Grade 1, $1 million Shadwell Travers Stakes on Saturday, August 29. The Alabama: The Travers Festival gets underway with the 129th running of the Grade 1, $600,000 Alabama for 3-year-old fillies at 1 ¼ miles.

Jockey Autograph Book Mini-Giveaway: Autograph books featuring the top 10 NYRA jockeys (plus Sam the Bugler) from 2008 with photos, graphics, statistics and room for autographs will be distributed from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Auggie, the NYRA mascot, will roam the track grounds handing the books to young fans.
