Following the success of the Aqueduct Murals exhibit that opened at Aqueduct Racetrack on November 23, The New York Racing Association Inc. (NYRA) has partnered with Freshly Baked Prints to host "The Aqueduct Murals: Gallery Show" at Freshly Baked Gallery on 383 Monmouth Street in Jersey City, N.J. The Jersey City show will debut tomorrow, December 19, in a special opening from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and continue through January 18.

The exhibit will feature a variety of contemporary urban artists, many of whom transformed the first floor of New York City's only racetrack into a horse racing-themed street art show for "Aqueduct Murals." Guests can meet the artists and see live installations during tomorrow's opening reception as well as work from Aqueduct Murals.

Ten percent of all proceeds received from sales of Aqueduct Mural artwork at the Jersey City exhibit will be donated to TAKE2 Second Career Thoroughbred Program, Inc., which promotes and develops second careers for retired thoroughbred racehorses to ensure that they have productive lives after their racing days are over. More than $2,500 was raised for TAKE2 at the opening of Aqueduct Murals on November 23.

"Aqueduct Murals has been very favorably received by the art community, by mainstream media and, most importantly, by our guests at Aqueduct," said NYRA's Paul Kelleher, who conceived the Aqueduct Murals project. "The Gallery Show in Jersey City will bring these popular Aqueduct works, and their artists, to a whole new audience. I'm very grateful to Freshly Baked Prints and our Aqueduct Murals curator Joe Iurato for making this next step in the Aqueduct Murals project a reality, and for doing so in a way that will benefit retired racehorses."
