Veteran racetracker Eddie Brown, currently assistant to the clerk of scales for the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), is this week's guest on Across the Board with Andy Serling, now available for download.
Brown joined Serling on the morning of January 20 at Aqueduct Racetrack to talk about his more than six decades of working experience in the industry. Beginning his career in 1952 at Jamaica Racetrack as an exercise rider, Brown subsequently went on to work as a valet for many Hall of Fame riders including Angel Cordero, Jr., Steve Cauthen, Jerry Bailey, and Pat Day.
Assistant Clerk of Scales at NYRA since 1972, Brown shared his memories of witnessing many of the greatest horses in the game including Bold Ruler, Native Dancer, Forego, Tom Fool, and Dr. Fager, to recent greats such as Rachel Alexandra and American Pharoah. He also discussed the growth of the game and how some of today's stars compare to those of the past.
Launched in April 2017, Across the Board with Andy Serling is a podcast presented by the New York Racing Association. New episodes of the show will be released in regular installments throughout the year, providing fans and horseplayers with access to the most interesting personalities in racing.
