The Late Pick 5, covering the last five races of every card at NYRA tracks, went unsolved on Saturday resulting in a carryover of $123,763 when live racing resumes on Sunday, December 29 at Aqueduct Racetrack.
Saturday's Late Pick 5 sequence featured a pair of longshot winners with Notorious Flirt (No. 4, $33.60) breaking his maiden in Race 6 under jockey Kendrick Carmouche for trainer Linda Rice, while Orchid Party (No. 5, $31.80) upset Race 8 for jockey Andre Worrie and trainer John Toscano, Jr.
The sequence kicked off in Race 5 with Gypsy Janie (No. 8, $12.60) romping to victory for Eric Cancel and also featured an impressive rally from the streaking Wicked Trick (No. 3, $8), who was expertly piloted by Dylan Davis for Rice.
In the day's closing race, Becca Takes Charge (No. 7) was the only live horse to complete the Late Pick 5 sequence. With Jose Lezcano aboard for Rice, Becca Takes Charge battled gamely to the wire with Funderella (No. 4) to her inside and Kathy's Cause (No. 10) to the outside. All three horses hit the wire in tandem with Kathy's Cause ($7.70) prevailing by a head over Becca Takes Charge to trigger the carryover.
Sunday's Late Pick 5 sequence will begin in Race 5 with an approximate 2:22 p.m. Eastern post time and will include the featured $100,000 Bay Ridge in Race 8.
First post on Sunday's nine-race card is 12:30 p.m. For more information on the Late Pick 5, visit NYRABets.com.
