Mandatory payout set for Empire 6 for Sunday, February 23

by NYRA Press Office

Empire 6 jackpot currently stands at $69,156

Sunday's eight-race card at Aqueduct Racetrack will be highlighted by a mandatory payout of the Empire 6, which boasted a jackpot of $69,156 heading into Friday's card at the Big A.

In January, the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) announced a series of bi-weekly mandatory payouts for the Empire 6 wager, continuing every other Sunday, to include February 23, March 8, March 22, April 5, and April 19.

The Empire 6 requires the bettor to select the first-place finisher of the final six races of the card. On non-mandatory payout days, if one unique ticket exists, then 100% of the net pool, plus the jackpot carryover if applicable, will be paid to the winner. If there is no unique wager selecting the first-place finisher in all six races, then 75% of the day's net pool will be distributed to those who selected the first-place finisher in the greatest number of races. The remainder will be added into the jackpot and carried to the next day's Empire 6.

Sunday's Empire 6 wager will start in Race 3 with an approximate post time of 2:20 p.m. Eastern and will include the featured $100,000 Maddie May for New York-bred sophomore fillies in Race 7. First post on Sunday's card is 1:20 p.m. Eastern.

Live racing continues on Friday at the Big A with an 8-race card. First post is 1:20 p.m. The Empire 6 will begin in Race 3 at 2:25 pm Eastern.
