Manny Franco wins Five on Sunday at Aqueduct

by Najja Thompson

Jockey Manny Franco continued his strong winter meet at Aqueduct Racetrack, picking up five winners from seven mounts on Sunday's live racing card.

Reaching the winner's circle in Race 2 with American Road (No. 4, $3.40), Franco earned his second win of the day in Race 4, piloting Spring for More (No. 2, $9.70) to a three-length victory and added wins aboard Tiz Anna Rae (No. 5, $18) in Race 6; I'm an Ocala Dude (No. 2, $7.90) in Race 7, capped his day with the post-time favorite Analyze the Odds (No. 4, $4.40) in Race 8.

"The horses were running for me today," said Franco. "They were ready today and as a result I had a big day. Of course, I have thank [my agent] Angel [Cordero, Jr.], my teacher. I speak to him almost every day and he tells me what I did wrong or what I did good. It definitely makes me a better rider."

Earning his first career five-win day, Franco pushed his win total to 45 winners for the winter meet, two ahead of Dylan Davis as the pair have been in a heated battle for leading meet rider all winter.

"I don't really pay attention to the meet title," added Franco. "I just keep riding my horses. My mind is on riding horses well and to follow the instructions of the trainers and owners."
