by NYRA Press Office

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will continue its partnership with Oaklawn Park, hosting a Cross Country Pick 5 on Saturday featuring the $80,000 Caixa Eletronica and $75,000 Stud Muffin from Aqueduct and the $150,000 Purple Martin from Oaklawn.

Last week's sequence, headlined by the $100,000 Cicada from Aqueduct and the $125,000 Gazebo and $100,000 Nodouble Breeders' from Oaklawn, handled $104,502 with a winning $0.50 ticket returning $5,223.25.

Saturday's Cross Country Pick 5, the ninth one in 2019, will kick off with two legs from Claiming Championship Day at Aqueduct before alternating between Oaklawn and the Big A.

The first leg will feature the $60,000 The More to Tell for 4-year-olds and up at one mile in Race 8 at Aqueduct with a 5:21 p.m. Eastern post time. The starter stakes offers a talented 11-horse field, including Daddy D T for trainer Rudy Rodriguez, who seeks his second consecutive victory following a 3 ½-length win at the distance on March 9.

Leg 2, the $75,000 Stud Muffin for 4-year-olds and up going 1 3/8 miles, features a field of 10 at 5:50 p.m. Turco Bravo, a 10-year-old Chilean-bred for owners Woodland Farms and trainer Merkan Kantarmaci, will look to reach the winners' circle for the first time since January 4.

Leg 3 is a contentious allowance optional claiming race for 4-year-olds and up that drew a field of nine in Oaklawn's Race 8 at 6 p.m. The action will shift back to the Big A for the penultimate leg, (Race 10, 6:20 p.m.) the featured Caixa Eletronica. The finale on Aqueduct's 10-race card will see winter meet-leading trainer Linda Rice saddle a pair of formidable contenders in Bavaro, who ran third last out in the Grade 3 Tom Fool Handicap on March 9, and American Power, making his stakes debut having gone 1-3-2 in his last six starts.

Closing out Saturday's Cross Country Pick 5 is the $150,000 Purple Martin for 3-year-old fillies at 6:36 p.m. that features a field of nine, highlighted by graded-stakes placed runners Bye Bye J, Splashy Kisses, Nitrous, Gray Attempt and Six Tomlin.

The minimum bet for the multi-track, multi-race wager is 50 cents. Wagering on the Cross Country Pick 5 is also available on track, on ADW platforms, and at simulcast facilities across the country. There will be a mandatory payout of the entire pool.
