60-1 shot leads to 26K Pick 6 Carryover
The NYRA Bets Late Pick 5, covering the last five races of every card at NYRA tracks and available exclusively to NYRA Bets members across the country, went unsolved on Sunday resulting in a carryover of $32,495 when live racing resumes on Thursday, January 10 at Aqueduct Racetrack.
The Pick 6 sequence also went unsolved on Sunday at the Big A triggering a single-day carryover of $26,214.
In Race 3, Siena Magic (No. 3, $6.20) kicked off Sunday's Pick 6 sequence as the 2-1 second choice. Twelfthofneverland (No. 2, $14.40) followed in Race 4 and Oh K Funnybone (No. 6, $14) in Race 5. Leading rider Manny Franco picked up his third win of the day in Race 6 aboard post-time favorite Sweet August Lady (No. 3, $4.40).
The biggest upset of the day came in Race 7, when 60-1 longshot Quietude (No. 1, $123), with apprentice rider Joey Martinez, caught even-money favorite My Best Friend (No. 4) in late stretch, securing a carryover in the Pick 6. In the day's finale, Fiery Opal (No. 9, $13.80) finished with authority, resulting in a carryover for the NYRA Bets Late Pick 5.
A consolation payout of $4,369 was awarded to bettors who had five of six winners in the Pick 6.
When live racing resumes on Thursday, the Pick 6 will begin in Race 3 with an approximate post of 1:55 p.m. The NYRA Bets Late Pick 5 will begin in Race 4 with a post time of 2:26 p.m.
First post on Thursday's eight-race card is 12:50 p.m. The day's feature race will be a New York-bred allowance optional-claiming event for 4-year-olds and up going 1 1/8 miles carded as Race 7.
