Big Mountain’s upset win at 58-1 odds in the Sunday’s final race at Aqueduct Racetrack ensured a NYRA Bets Late Pick 5 carryover of $46,490 and also triggered a two-day Pick 6 carryover of $123,511 when live resumes at the Big A on Friday.
The NYRA Bets Late Pick 5, covering the last five races of every card at NYRA tracks and available exclusively to NYRA Bets members across the country, along with the Pick 6, saw plenty of upsets. The Pick 6 sequence started in Race 4 when post-time favorite Starry Rose (No. 8, $2.70) won the first leg, followed by Race 5, which started the Late Pick 5, where Takecharge Mirella (No. 2) returned $7.40) for the win.
Bebe Banker (No. 5, $17.60) bested Papa Jim and Pier Forty to win Race 6. Jockey Manny Franco and trainer Todd Pletcher combined to win Races 7 and 8, with Real Dan (No. 10, $8.80) and Sun Studio (No. 1, $21.60), earning respective trips to the winner’s circle.
The biggest price of the day came in the finale, when Big Mountain (No. 2), piloted by jockey Luis Reyes, held of Thesis, returning $118.50 on a $2 win bet.
A consolation payout of $3,511 was awarded to bettors who had five of six winners in the Pick 6.
When live racing resumes on Friday with a 1:30 p.m. first post, the Pick 6 will begin in Race 4 with an approximate post of 2:40 p.m. The NYRA Bets Late Pick 5 will begin in Race 4 with a post time of 3:20 p.m.
