Saturday’s card at Belmont at the Big A will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $25,202 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Friday’s nine-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $253 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
The sequence began in Race 4 with Poseidon’s Mist [No. 3, $15] capturing a 6 1/2-furlong claiming sprint with Eliseo Ruiz up for trainer Carlos David. Race 5 saw the biggest upset in the sequence as Somama Beach [No. 7, $82] graduated in an off-the-turf state-bred maiden claiming sprint. Danilo Grisales Rave engineered the winning ride for conditioner Eddie Persaud.
Bruce Levine earned a training double on the card in Race 6 when Light Man [No. 4, $18.40] took a state-bred optional claiming sprint under Kendrick Carmouche, one race before the favored Chocolate Shake [No. 7, $2.70*] captured Race 7, a seven-furlong claiming sprint, with Carmouche in the irons for trainer Rob Atras.
In Race 8, the Chad Brown-trained graded stakes-winner Turf King [No. 3, $12.40] found a seam late under Trevor McCarthy to claim victory in the one-mile turf optional claimer.
With the carryover already ensured, post-time favorite Boss Tweed [No. 4, $3.70*] drew off with ease to win Race 9, an off-the-turf state-bred maiden claiming sprint, to close out the sequence. Junior Alvarado was aboard for trainer Gary Contessa.
Saturday’s Pick 6 begins in Race 6 at 3:06 p.m. Eastern and features the Grade 3, $175,000 Vagrancy in Race 9. First post on the 11-race card is 12:35 p.m.
