Sunday’s card at Belmont at the Big A will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $44,954 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Saturday’s 12-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $4,112 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
Saturday’s Pick 6 sequence kicked off in Race 7 as Sounds Like a Plan [No. 9, $7.30] took a 1 1/16-mile turf maiden for New York-breds with Ricardo Santana, Jr. aboard for trainer Horacio De Paz.
Trainer Rob Atras sent out the next winner with the Santana, Jr.-piloted Backside Buzz [No. 8, $13.80], who captured a six-furlong claimer in Race 8. One race later, the upsets continued with Wonderful Justice [No. 7, $26.60] winning a 1 3/16-mile turf optional claimer with Hall of Famer John Velazquez in the irons for conditioner Joe Sharp in Race 9.
In Race 10, the nine-furlong turf Listed Athenia, Child of the Moon [No. 4, $11] rallied to victory with Manny Franco up for four-time Eclipse Award winner Chad Brown. In Race 11, a one-turn mile claimer, Mason Mania [No. 6, $9.10] earned another win for Atras, this time with Kendrick Carmouche aboard.
With the carryover already guaranteed heading into the Race 12 finale, a six-furlong allowance sprint on the lawn, the Carmouche-piloted and Michelle Nevin-conditioned Mz Big Bucks [No. 4, $9.90] rallied to victory.
Sunday’s Pick 6 will begin in Race 5 at approximately 2:45 p.m. Eastern. First post for the 10-race card that features the Listed $150,000 Chelsey Flower [Race 3] is 12:40 p.m.
