Pick 6 carryover of $45K into Sunday’s card at Belmont at the Big A

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Sunday’s card at the Belmont at the Big A fall meet will feature a Pick 6 carryover of $45,635.85 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Saturday’s 10-race program.

The $1 Pick 6 returned $524.50 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.

The sequence kicked off in Race 5 with Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher’s first of three wins on the card as Hall of Famer Javier Castellano engineered a winning trip aboard Agua Dulce [No. 7, $37.40] in the 1 1/16-mile outer turf maiden. Race 6 saw Pletcher earn back-to-back maiden scores as Irad Ortiz, Jr. guided Rudder’s Men [No. 6, $3.10*] to an impressive debut score sprinting seven furlongs. The day’s second graded event [Race 7] saw Celestial City [No. 1, $9.60] improve off two graded placings to capture the Grade 2 Hill Prince for Hall of Famer Shug McGaughey under a well-timed ride from Jose Lezcano.

The largest price in the sequence came when Flashy Alex [No. 7, $40.20] upset Race 8 for conditioner Randi Persaud to break his maiden and give jockey Eric Cancel his second win on the day. Pletcher completed his hat trick inRace 9 as Steady On [No. 2, $12.80] provided Ortiz, Jr. with another win on the card with his one-mile allowance score.

With just three horses covered in the final leg, the Linda Rice-trained Ghost Giant [No. 1, $7.30*] rallied down the stretch under Jose Lezcano in Race 10 to earn his eighth lifetime victory in the six-furlong state-bred optional claimer over the outer turf.

Sunday’s Pick 6 sequence will begin in Race 4 [2:12 p.m. Eastern] on Sunday’s card, and features the $120,000 Carle Place in Race 6. First post for the nine-race card is 12:35 p.m.
