The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) today announced that Sunday’s featured Grade 2, $200,000 Miss Grillo [Race 8], a 1 1/16-mile turf test for 2-year-old fillies at Belmont at the Big A, has been cancelled due to significant rainfall and will be moved to Sunday, October 6. The Miss Grillo offers a “Win and You’re In” berth to the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on November 1 at Del Mar.
The rescheduled Miss Grillo, which will be offered as an extra and redrawn, will join a stacked Sunday, October 6 card that also includes the Grade 2, $250,000 Beldame and Grade 3, $175,000 Matron. Entries for the Sunday, October 6 card will be taken on Wednesday, October 2.
On Saturday, NYRA announced that the four other turf races on Sunday’s card [Races 3,5,6 and 9], which was originally scheduled for nine races, had been moved to the main track.
Today’s now eight-race card will kick off as scheduled with Race 1 at 1:05 p.m. Eastern. Post time for Race 9, initially scheduled for 5:13 p.m., has been moved to 4:48 p.m.
Any multi-race wagers that include Race 8 have been canceled and will be refunded.
The $1 Pick 6, which was to include an $83,911 carryover, has been moved to Thursday, October 3, and will begin in Race 3 at 1:42 p.m. First post on Thursday’s eight-race card, which is headlined by the $135,000 Gio Ponti in Race 7, is 12:40 p.m.
