Friday’s card at Belmont at the Big A will be bolstered by a double Pick 6 carryover of $159,463 after the multi-race wager went unsolved for the second consecutive card on Thursday’s nine-race program.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $577 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
The sequence kicked off in Race 4 with St Andrews [No. 3, $10.60] taking a one-mile claiming tilt with Hall of Famer Joel Rosario in the irons for conditioner Orlando Noda. The Linda Rice-trained Save Us Melania [No. 9, $7.10*] followed in Race 5 with a one-mile starter allowance score under Jose Lezcano.
Race 6 saw Rosario notch another win with Mazzei [No. 2, $10.80] taking a six-furlong state-bred turf maiden claimer for conditioner Kevin Bond, one race before Born Dancer [No. 10, $7.40*] took Race 7, a 1 1/16-mile turf starter optional claimer, under Kendrick Carmouche for trainer Michelle Nevin.
Irad Ortiz, Jr. then guided the Chris Englehart-trained A Maize Zing Dotie [No. 5, $6.60*] to win Race 8, a six-furlong state-bred allowance.
With two horses left uncovered in the final leg [Race 9], the Dylan Davis piloted Miriam’s Fire [No. 4, $43.20] captured the six-furlong turf maiden as the longest shot on the board to pull off the upset for trainer Mike Maker and trigger the carryover.
Friday’s Pick 6 begins in Race 4 at approximately 2:33 p.m. Eastern. First post on the nine-race card is 1:05 p.m.
