Heavy fog forces cancelation after Race 5 at Aqueduct Racetrack

by Keith McCalmont

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has cancelled the remaining four races on Saturday’s nine-race card following Race 5 due to heavy fog that has settled into the New York City area, resulting in visibility concerns at Aqueduct Racetrack.

Per New York State Gaming Commission rules, today’s Pick 6 wagering pool, which featured a carryover of $22,611, will be refunded. The wager and carryover will return on Sunday, January 1 with a mandatory payout. Sunday’s Pick 6 will begin in Race 4 with a post time of 1:47 p.m.

Saturday’s featured event, the $150,000 Queens County, will be brought back on Saturday, January 7.

Aqueduct Racetrack will remain open for simulcasting, and online wagering is available through www.NYRABets.com.

Live racing resumes Sunday at the Big A, Opening Day of the 44-day 2023 Aqueduct winter meet. The nine-race card features the $150,000 Ladies in Race 3. First post is 12:20 p.m. Eastern.

America's Day at the Races will present live coverage and analysis of the Aqueduct fall meet on the networks of FOX Sports. For the broadcast schedule and channel finder, visit https://www.nyra.com/aqueduct/racing/tv-schedule.
