Pick 6 carryover of $37K into Thursday program at Aqueduct Racetrack

by Keith McCalmont

Thursday’s eight-race card at Aqueduct Racetrack will feature a Pick 6 carryover of $37,483 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Sunday’s nine-race program.

The $1 Pick 6 returned $6,247 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 horses correctly.

Sunday’s sequence kicked off in Race 4, a seven-furlong optional-claiming sprint for New York-bred sophomore fillies won by Security Code [No. 7, $11] with Manny Franco up for trainer Phil Serpe.

Rum Runner Ready [No. 3, $14.80] captured Race 5, a maiden claiming sprint over the outer turf for fillies and mares, with Trevor McCarthy in the irons for conditioner William Morey.

In Race 6, a one-turn mile optional-claimer for older horses, Unbridled Bomber [No. 5, $10.60] dropped in from stakes company to annex a salty field of six. Jose Ortiz piloted the winner for trainer and co-owner James Ryerson.

The Gary Sciacca-trained New York-bred Sell Something [No. 6, $53] provided the biggest upset in the sequence in Race 7, closing strongly down the lane with Franco aboard to capture the open 1 1/16-mile starter allowance for 3-year-olds and up over the inner turf.

Lady Milagro [No. 5, $28.80] traveled gate-to-wire in Race 8, a six-furlong outer turf allowance for fillies and mares, staving off the late challenge of Gal in a Rush and an objection from Franco aboard third-place Anna Karenine to score for apprentice jockey Jaime Torres and trainer Carlos Martin.

With the carryover already confirmed, the Michelle Nevin-trained Ever Graceful [No. 8, $19.40] rallied stoutly under Jose Gomez to capture the Race 9 finale, a six-furlong state-bred maiden claimer for fillies and mares over the main track.

Thursday’s Pick 6 will begin in Race 3 at 2:24 p.m. Eastern. First post on the eight-race card is 1:20 p.m.
