Aqueduct Racetrack will continue its stakes series for 3-year-olds on Saturday, February 1 when it hosts the Grade 3, $250,000 Withers. The Withers will be contested at 1 1/16 miles on the inner track and will be joined by the Grade 3, $150,000 Toboggan, $100,000 Busher, and $100,000 Correction.

In the Withers, Samraat, a 16 ¾-length winner of the Damon Runyon on December 18, is slated to face Uncle Sigh, who broke his maiden by 14 ½ lengths on December 27. Both colts are New York-breds who will be facing open company for the first time in the Withers.

Also expected for the Withers are Classic Giacnroll and Scotland, second and third, respectively, in the Grade 2 Jerome on January 4; Honorable Judge, who won an entry-level allowance in November at Parx Racing; and Street Gent, who captured an Aqueduct maiden race in December.

In the upcoming weeks, Aqueduct will conduct the Grade 3, $500,000 Gotham on March 1 and the Grade 1, $1 million Wood Memorial on April 5. All are points races in the "Road to the Kentucky Derby" series.

Veteran sprinter Strapping Groom, a 7-year-old,will look to pair up wins on the inner track when he rejoins graded stakes company in the Toboggan. After capturing the Grade 1 Forego this summer at Saratoga Race Course, Strapping Groom was third in the Grade 1 Vosburgh Invitational and fourth in the Grade 3 Bold Ruler before regaining winning form with a 6 ½-length score in the Gravesend Handicap on December 21 at the Big A. Also probable are Dads Caps, second behind Candyman E in the Spooky Mulder on December 13. Bet the Power and Jake N Elwood also are probable for the race.

Fierce Boots, who used front-running tactics to win the Busanda by two lengths, will attempt to double her stakes tally in the Busher for 3-year-old fillies. Also expected for the 1 1/16-mile race are Ballylee, Fleet of Gold, Joint Return, and Vero Amore. Brown Rice is possible. The Busher is a points race in the "Road to the Kentucky Oaks" series.

The Correction, run at six furlongs for fillies and mares, is likely to attract a group of evenly matched, hard-knocking sprinters headed by Lion D N A, a gritty winner of the Interborough in her latest start, her second win of the inner-track meet. I'm Mom's Favorite and Uno Duo are scheduled to make their 4-year-old debuts after demonstrating plenty of ability at 3, while the well-bred 5-year-old mare, Delightful Quality, will again seek her first stakes victory. Baby J and P J's Superego complete the provisional lineup, with Villette possible for the race.
