The Stewards' Corner

Welcome to the Stewards’ Corner, where you will find explanations of the decisions that our stewards make on race days. Directly following any decision they make having to do with the official order of finish, including inquiries and objections, the stewards – one appointed by The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), one appointed by the New York State Gaming Commission, and one appointed by The Jockey Club (TJC) – provide an explanation of what happened and the reason for their decision. Race Decisions - January 5, 2011

RACE 6: Steward’s Inquiry and Jockey’s Objection:

# 6 Lady On the Run (M. Luzzi) alleges interference by # 1 Hot Danger (E. Castro) in the vicinity of the 3/16 pole.

Both horses have intermittent contact from 3/8 pole to the 1/4 pole, and # 1 steadies and goes outside of # 6 at the 1/4 pole.

Nearing the 1/8 pole, # 1 shifts in causing # 6 to steady. In the judgment of the stewards, the incident did not alter the finish of the race.

The race is declared Official as is.
