The Stewards' Corner
Welcome to the Stewards’ Corner, where you will find explanations of the decisions that our stewards make on race days. Directly following any decision they make having to do with the official order of finish, including inquiries and objections, the stewards – one appointed by The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA), one appointed by the New York State Gaming Commission, and one appointed by The Jockey Club (TJC) – provide an explanation of what happened and the reason for their decision. RACE 7: Steward’s inquiry and Jockeys objection into the stretch run. The # 5 Truth Will Tell (E Castro) drifts in on the # 6 Lynnette (J Alvarado) forcing the # 6 to check and alter course around the 3/16 pole. After checking the # 6 responds and closes the gap between the winner. After reviewing the video and in the opinion of the Stewards the incident did alter the outcome of the race and the winner # 5 is placed 2nd behind the # 6.
